General anaesthesia renders you fully unconscious. Spinal anaesthesia numbs the lower half of the body while you remain awake or lightly sedated — it is commonly used for lower limb and caesarean procedures.

Any existing medical conditions, current medications, allergies, previous anaesthetic reactions, and whether you have eaten or drunk anything — all of this information is important for your safety.

Yes. Non-invasive labour analgesia is available at Sunrise for mothers who prefer a pain-free birthing experience. This is offered as part of the Sunrise Haven experience and on request for all maternity patients.
