Joint replacement is usually considered when pain and stiffness significantly affect your daily life and do not improve with medication, physiotherapy, or other non-surgical treatments. Your orthopaedic surgeon will assess your X-rays and symptoms to make a recommendation.

Robotic-assisted surgery uses a computer-guided robotic arm to help the surgeon position the implant with greater accuracy than traditional methods. This results in better implant alignment, less bone removal, reduced pain after surgery, and a faster, more predictable recovery.

Most patients are walking with support within 24 hours of surgery. You can typically return to light daily activities within 3–6 weeks and full recovery takes 3–6 months. Physiotherapy is an important part of the recovery process.

Many sports injuries — including mild ligament sprains, muscle strains, and minor cartilage damage — can be managed non-surgically with physiotherapy, bracing, and rehabilitation. However, complete ligament tears such as ACL injuries often require surgical repair for full functional recovery.
